It was a beautiful day and we decided we would take a drive out towards the lakes and mountains as a change of scenery from the hectic beaches of Benalmadena and we discovered a beautiful Bar/Bistro on sale in a fantastic mountain village that is bustling and full of tourists and many ex. Pats.
A forty minute drive and we were in spectacular surroundings with incredible views, it was lunch time and we were lucky enough to chance on a superb Bar/Café in the heart of a beautiful mountain village, originally the local post office, for more than eighty years, but now converted without any loss of character and offering a unique dining experience in an informal, relaxed atmosphere and with very friendly service. The menu offers not only an interesting selection of international appetizers and main courses but also tapas, salads and hamburgers, along with vegetarian options.
To keep things interesting the owners change the menu from time to time, adding a few exciting new dishes which are appreciated by locals and the many regular clients.
The restaurant has been designed to offer a varied ambiance. Entering from the street you find a dining room and bar where you can just enjoy a drink, perhaps with an inexpensive tapa, or, if you prefer, choose a full three course meal.
The bar area can be quite lively and perhaps a little noisy from time to time. Leading off from the bar the owners have created a small patio area. The soft colours and vegetation provide a restful, intimate seating area. The rear dining area is decorated in a modernist style with subdued lighting and is designed to accommodate couples, families and larger groups. It\'s the ideal environment to enjoy good food and conversation.
The front bar and dining room doubles as an Art Gallery showing works by Spanish and international artists and exhibitions last for about eight weeks. All works are for sale through the gallery and the changing exhibitions help create a stimulating and ever changing décor. The owners welcome all clients and ensure that you spend an enjoyable meal with personal service, fine wine and good cooking in a comfortable, relaxed atmosphere.
